Creating a unique piece for your Summer Wardrobe!
This workshop is an opportunity to learn to create your own garments, to practice skills in view of doing GCSE Textiles or for your DoE or simply to learn how to sew a unique piece to add (or start!) your own Summer Wardrobe!
Learnign a skill to repeat over the seasons!
Your child/young adult will learn:
To design and draw their own sewing pattern on paper (real size), to keep and repeat at home.
To cut and sew the main body of kimono
To cut and sew cuffs and collar on kimono
They will need to bring:
- Fabric, preferably pre-loved, duvet covers/left over fabrics from previous projects/large scarves/linen curtains...Re-use from charity shops, Vinted, Ebay, FB Marketplace or friends and family's homes and magic it up!
The amount needed is about 1.5m by 1metre for the kimono and a bit for the contracting cuffs and collar ( a good half a metre will do: pillow case? scarf? a maxi summer dress? or long skirt or even an adult size shirt?). If you need help just contact Celine who will be happy to advise you.
- A packed lunch. (water and snacks will be provided, let us know if your child/young adults has any food intolerances or allergies in advance)
They will leave with:
- their very own Kimono
- their sewing pattern (to repeat at home for the next seasons-versions!)
- self confidence and pride over their achievement
- joy to wear it and say "well! I did it myself, actually!"
